Driver killed in collision with 18-wheeler on I35W in Fort Worth
On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at about 2:47am, Fort Worth officers were dispatched a two-vehicle accident in the 3300 block of the southbound lanes of the South Freeway (I35W) near Ripy Street. Fort Worth Fire Department and MedStar personnel also responded.
An 18-wheeler had safely come to a stop behind an initial accident scene. A pickup truck was approaching the accident scene and, failing to control speed to avoid a collision, struck the trailer from behind. The driver of the pickup was pronounced deceased on scene.
The driver has been identified as a 59-year-old man.
