Woman killed husband with a hammer, Arlington police say

On Tuesday, May 24, 2023, at approximately 5:58 a.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Sweet Gum Trail to investigate a domestic disturbance.

A 42-year-old woman called 911 and told dispatchers she’d hit her husband in the head with a hammer.

When officers arrived at the apartment, they located a 45-year-old man lying unresponsive in a bedroom. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The woman was sitting outside the apartment when officers arrived and was immediately detained. Investigators learned the victim asked her to come to the apartment to sign divorce papers.

She was arrested and booked into the Arlington City Jail on one count of Murder.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the victim once next of kin have been notified.
