UPDATE: Man drowns at Lake Lewisville

At approximately 8:30 p.m. tonight, a man swimming in the public beach area of Lake Park on Lewisville Lake went under the water and did not resurface.

Witness say the man is around 20 years old. They say he was not wearing a life jacket. Witnesses say he was swimming by a buoy when he went under. They believe he may have gotten tangled in the ropes of the buoy.

Members of the Lewisville Fire Department Dive Team got on scene and in the water around 9 p.m. Divers pulled the victim from the water around 9:15 p.m. The victim was not breathing and had no pulse. The victim was transferred to a nearby hospital with CPR in progress for possible life-saving measures.

The Game Warden is on scene and is in charge of all drowning investigations on Lewisville Lake. 

There is no name of the victim at this time.
