NEW: Woman found dead in Grapevine Lake
At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023, a witness driving on Fairway Drive called 9-1-1 to say her passenger thought he saw a body floating near the spillway on the right side of the dam. Officers quickly responded and confirmed a body was in the water.
Officers closed Fairway Drive and requested assistance from the Grapevine Fire Department, Flower Mound Fire Department, game warden, Army Corps of Engineers and medical examiner.
Once the deceased was pulled from the water, officers discovered signs of trauma inconsistent with drowning. The deceased appears to be an adult female. It is not immediately clear how long she was in the water. The medical examiner will work to determine her identity and exact cause of death.
