Did you hear a loud boom?

We have received multiple reports of a loud boom heard across portions of northern DFW, especially in Wise and Denton counties. There is nothing noted on the USGS to indicate an earthquake, but we are checking with officials for any information.

We had several followers report their house shook. A loud boom was also heard. We don’t know an exact time, but somewhere around 10am.

We will update this post with any new information.

Update – One of our admins says Lockheed Martin had 2 F35 aircraft in this area, so the boom was likely a sonic boom from their training exercises.

Burn Victim (Fort Worth)

Fort Worth Engine 22, Engine 3, and Medstar EMS are on scene of a reported burn victim in the 3800 block of Wilbarger Street just west of Highway 287.

Engine 3 has established a landing zone at the Beth Eden Baptist Church on Wilbarger just west of the dispatched incident location.

CareFlite will be landing in a few minutes. It’s best to avoid this area.

Police Incident (Benbrook)

Multiple agencies are on scene of an incident at the Days Inn off Winscott Road near I20.

Reports indicate multiple officers from difference agencies are on scene.

We have reached out to Fort Worth PD for comment and will update this story when we hear any additional information. Stay tuned.

Update from Fort Worth PD: “Units working special detail currently at Days West of Winscott in Benbrook with possible barricaded person who is suspected armed bank robber. The business has been evacuated except the room he is believed to be in. SWAT has been notified and gearing up. Will update as soon as more information is received.

Update – Standoff is over.

Threats (DFW)

There have been numerous threats made against all types of locations today. Agencies in Arlington, Irving, Southlake, Lewisville, and more have responded to bomb threats and demands for a large payment of bitcoin. So far we don’t have any information that indicates these threats are credible. Similar threats are being made all across the country.

Major Accident (Rhome)

Rhome FD, PD, and Wise County EMS are on scene of a major accident involving an 18 wheeler westbound on Highway 114 at Highway 287. Units have requested the closest medical helicopter to respond to the scene. Expect delays in this area.

Structure Fire (Ellis County)

Italy FD and other mutual aid departments are working a fully involved residential structure fire in the 100 block of Couch Street near E. Main Street in downtown Italy.

Dispatched as someone possibly still inside the residence. EMS has requested an air medical helicopter be placed on standby.

Update – Air Evac has been launched to the scene and will be landing at the Dollar General.

Update – Helicopter canceled.

Double Fatality Crash (Wise County)

Boyd FD, Wise County EMS, and multiple law enforcement are on scene of a major accident on FM 730 north of Boyd. It is reported to be near County Road 4374.

Wise County Medic 3 placed Air Evac Lifeteam on standby, but canceled them shortly thereafter.

At least two vehicles are involved with major damage.

Medic 3 reported two patients are deceased on the scene. Avoid this area.

Traffic Alert (Fort Worth)

Fort Worth FD and PD are on scene of a crash involving an 18 wheeler on northbound I35W near Berry Street. All lanes have been forced off at Berry Street due to a large diesel spill on the roadway. Major delays in this area.

Update – All lanes are open.

Shooting (Garland)

The Garland Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that took place around 6:30pm tonight, Monday December 10th.

Garland police officers and EMS personnel responded to two shooting calls minutes apart; one at a residence in the 500 block of Hillcrest Drive and the other at an apartment complex in the 100 block of S. Jupiter Road.

Officers located two shooting victims, one at each location. The shooting victim at the Hillcrest Drive location was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; however, the victim located at the apartment complex on Jupiter Road was transported to the hospital but died of his injuries.

The investigation is still in progress and ongoing, but Garland PD believes both victims were shot at the 100 S. Jupiter Road apartment complex. It is a murder investigation.

No suspects are in custody at this time.
