Armed robbery suspects shoot and kill victim at Dallas apartment complex

The Dallas Police Department says a 32-year-old man was shot and killed last night just before midnight in an armed robbery attempt.

Dallas police officers responded to the scene at the Park at Cliff Creek Apartments, 7310 Marvin D. Love Freeway (Highway 67), and located a gunshot victim. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

During the course of their investigation, officers learned through a relative of the victim that two males had approached the victim just before the shooting and demanded property at gunpoint. The suspects then shot the victim and fled the location.

I30 blocked in west Fort Worth due to 18 wheeler crash

Fort Worth PD has closed all eastbound lanes of I30 near Chapel Creek Blvd in far west Fort Worth due to a reported 18 wheeler crash.

Units were dispatched around 10:45am to a rollover accident involving an 18 wheeler. There are major delays along both sides of I30.

All lanes of eastbound I30 are forced to exit off the highway. It is best to find another route.

2 alarm fire extinguished at large warehouse in Plano

Plano firefighters responded to a structure fire this evening at the ‘At Home’ distribution facility and warehouse in the 1600 block of E. Plano Parkway.

Battalion 1, Medic 1, Engine 1, Truck 1, and other Plano FD units arrived with heavy black smoke showing from the facility. At least one 18-wheeler trailer was reported to be on fire along with a loading dock.

Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire without it spreading to most of the building. A 2nd alarm was called for assistance.

The fire has been extinguished. Plano FD personnel remain on scene at this time.

I20 reopened in Forest Hill after animal parts spilled over the highway

Quite a messy situation in Forest Hill earlier this evening. It caused a lot of concern, as you can tell from the photos, but luckily no humans were involved in this incident.

Forest Hill FD and PD responded to the scene earlier this evening and found multiple body parts of deceased animals all over westbound I20 near the Loop 820 / 287 split.

Three lanes were closed while emergency responders cleared the scene with shovels. It caused a major traffic backup.

No word on how the animal parts fell onto the highway or from where.

Irving mother charged with capital murder following death of her 8-year-old child

Irving Police responded to an unconscious person early Sunday morning in the 2600 block of Peach Tree Lane. When officers arrived, they located a deceased 8-year-old male child.

Police opened a homicide investigation and have subsequently arrested the victim’s mother, a 30-year-old female, and charged her with Capital Murder.

The motive for the murder is still unclear, according to police, but the investigation is still ongoing.

Motorcycle accident blocks lanes of 183 in Bedford

Bedford Fire/EMS and Police are on the scene of a major accident reportedly involving a motorcycle on westbound SH 183 just west of Industrial Blvd.

BFD reports a motorcycle rider is down in the roadway. EMS is assessing injuries at this time. No word on the condition of the rider.

Emergency responders are blocking all lanes of the highway at this time. Expect heavy delays in the area.

CareFlite called to serious crash in Lancaster

Lancaster FD has landed CareFlite at the scene of a major accident near N. Dallas Ave. and 7th Street.

CareFlite has just lifted off from the scene en route to the hospital.

Lancaster FD successfully performed extrication on a trapped person inside the vehicle. Reports indicate the vehicle crashed into a tree.

It is best to avoid this area.

Heavy police activity in downtown Dallas near the Federal Building

Multiple police officers have responded to an incident in downtown Dallas near the Federal Building on Commerce Street near Griffin.

Early reports indicate there is a suspicious abandoned vehicle in the area. There have been evacuations in the immediate area while police investigate the scene.

A large perimeter has been established and police are keeping people away.

It is best to avoid this area.

Update – The incident has been resolved.

22-year-old dies after crashing into disabled 18-wheeler in Grand Prairie

The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatality accident involving a vehicle and an 18-wheeler that occurred on Sunday.

At around 4:15pm, Grand Prairie police and fire were dispatched to a major accident along eastbound I20 near PGBT (161). A vehicle had veered off the main lanes and impacted the rear of a disabled 18-wheeler parked along the inside shoulder of the highway.

The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old male, was killed at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.

There are no criminal charges pending.

Severe Thunderstorm WATCH has been issued for North Texas, including DFW, until 10pm

A Severe Thunderstorm WATCH has been issued for much of north Texas, including the DFW Metroplex, until 10pm this evening.

A large cluster or squall line of thunderstorms is expected to move through late this afternoon and evening. Those storms could be strong to severe with large hail, damaging winds, and a tornado or two. Heavy rain and frequent lightning will also be a concern.

A weather watch means conditions are favorable for severe weather. Stay alert and keep updated on the forecast for the latest information. And remember to always have a severe weather plan, whether indoors or outdoors!
