UPDATE: Man and child killed in Collin County crash

The TxDPS has released additional information regarding the fatality accident we first posted yesterday evening.

Around 7:30pm, agencies were called to a major accident on Highway 121 near CR 528 in rural Collin County. Two people were pronounced deceased on the scene.

Additional information indicates a Chevrolet Camaro was traveling north on the highway. The driver of the Camaro attempted to pass a vehicle in the passing zone, but lost control, drove off the roadway and struck a tree. Investigators are still trying to determine why the vehicle lost control.

A mid-30’s year old male and an 8 year old male were both killed in the crash. Both were from the Whitewright area, just a few miles from the crash scene, according to law enforcement.

Search (Richland Hills)

Richland Hills PD, along with NRH and Haltom City PD, are in the area of the 6800 block of Boulevard 26 searching for a suspect who eluded police. Air 1 requested. Perimeter in place while search is underway. Avoid the area.

Update: They have the suspect in custody in the area of Vance and Brooks.

Multiple Collin County emergency responders working serious crash with fatality

Multiple Collin County agencies are working a major accident with fatality on Highway 121 near County Road 528.

Reports indicate a vehicle struck a tree. There are multiple injuries with reports of two fatalities.

There are multiple lanes blocked in this area. Avoid this scene.

Irving PD resolves SWAT standoff

The Irving Police Department was busy for most of the afternoon working a standoff with a “wanted felon.”

The standoff lasted for several hours in the area of Roberts Ave. and 5th Street just east of Story Road. The department responded with their SWAT team to assist in bringing the suspect into custody.

Irving PD reported just after 5pm that the suspect was taken into custody without injury.

Apartment Fire (Euless)

Euless FD along with mutual aid departments are working an apartment fire off Monterrey Blvd. and Spanish Circle. Heavy smoke showing from the roof of a two-story apartment building upon arrival. Avoid this area.

Body of missing woman believed to be found in Ennis

The body of a female has been found in Ennis, and police say it matches the description of a woman missing since January 5th.

Ennis Police say search volunteers found the deceased body of a female meeting the description of Emily Wade. The body was found in a creek bed that was known to be flooding the night she disappeared.

Emily Wade, a 38-year-old white female, had been missing since January 5th. She had reportedly told members of her family she was going to have dinner with a friend.

The body has been sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification and cause of death information.

Firefighters contain large apartment fire in North Richland Hills

North Richland Hills firefighters and multiple other agencies have contained a large apartment fire in the 6400 block of Iron Horse Blvd. It was reported to be at the Hilltop Apartments.

The fire was reported around 2:00pm this afternoon. NRH Firefighters arrived on scene and found heavy fire and smoke throughout a multi-story apartment building.

The roof partially collapsed during the incident as firefighters began to exit the structure and battle the flames from the exterior of the building.

Although original reports by police indicated there were no injuries, one person was found dead in the building after it was under control.

Apartment Fire (North Richland Hills)

NRH fire and police units are on scene of a structure fire in the 6400 block of Iron Horse Boulevard. PD reports entire building engulfed. FD reports heavy smoke seen from 820 and Rufe Snow. Sizeup: 2 story apartment fire with flames through the roof. First and second floor involved. Engine 222 pulling pre-connect. Offensive strategy. Working fire.

Update: Quint 311, Engine 473, and Medic 311 now responding in a second alarm.

Irving firefighters contain early morning house fire

Irving firefighters contained a house fire early this morning in the 1900 block of Sunnybrook Drive.

Upon arrival, it was determined there was a working fire inside of a one story house. According to reports, the residents and their pets successfully got out of the house.

Firefighters rescue kayaker at Mountain Creek Lake

Grand Prairie and Dallas firefighters responded to a water rescue a short time ago on Mountain Creek Lake near the area of Nina Drive.

A kayaker become stuck among the weeds along the lakeside on the west side of the lake. Grand Prairie firefighters utilized a rope to pull the kayaker to safety.

There were no serious injuries.
