Dallas police shoot armed man after drug deal and chase near Lake Highlands

The Dallas Police Department is investigating a shooting involving one of their officers.

On Wednesday evening, Dallas police officers observed a drug deal at a gas station in the 13000 block of Jupiter Road. They attempted to make a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle when he took off, leading them on a pursuit. He was eventually able to evade officers.

A few hours later, around 11:30pm, officers located the suspect vehicle back at the same gas station. They went inside to arrest the suspect when a fight broke out. During the fight, the suspect pulled out a gun from his waistband and was subsequently shot by one of the officers.

Dallas Fire Rescue transported the suspect to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and Office of Police Oversight were notified and responded.

The incident remains under investigation.

19-year-old killed, three others hurt in shooting at Fort Worth lounge

At around 4:30am on Sunday morning, Fort Worth police officers were dispatched to the OU Lounge, 2350 S. Riverside Drive, for a reported shooting.

When officers arrived, they located an adult man and adult woman with gunshot wounds. MedStar paramedics transported both victims to JPS, but the adult man was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The woman is expected to survive.

Detectives learned of two other individuals who were shot during this incident after both arrived at local hospitals via private vehicle. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

The deceased has been identified as a 19-year-old man.

Homicide detectives are actively investigating this case. No additional information has been released.

NEW: Dallas officer shoots woman who fired shots inside Love Field airport

The Dallas Police Department has provided an update regarding the shooting this morning at Dallas Love Field airport.

At around 10:59am, a 37-year-old woman was dropped off at the airport and walked inside to a nearby Southwest Airlines ticketing counter. She then walked into a restroom and came out wearing different clothes, according to Dallas PD Chief Garcia.

After she walked out of the restroom, she pulled out a gun and started firing shots. Witnesses say she was pointing the weapon in the air.

A Dallas PD officer was close by and witnessed the woman shooting the gun. He fired at least one round at the armed woman and struck her in the lower extremities.

Dallas Fire-Rescue transported her to Parkland Hospital in unknown condition.

No one else was shot.

UPDATE: Plane crashes during takeoff at Granbury Airport; no injuries

At around 11:15am this morning, emergency responders were called to the area of W. Pearl Street (Business 377) near Granbury Airport for a reported plane down.

A Rockwell Commander 112 aircraft suffered engine loss on takeoff from Granbury Airport. This caused the plane to go down just south of the airport and skid onto Pearl Street. Luckily, both individuals on board were not badly injured.

Business 377 between Highway 377 and Cherry Lane will be closed for an extended time while crews complete their investigation and removed the downed aircraft from the street.

It’s best to avoid this area.

Kayaker finds body floating in creek near Lake Arlington

At around 10:30am this morning, a kayaker fishing on a small creek in south Arlington located a body floating in the water. He returned to shore and notified authorities of the discovery.

Arlington Fire Department’s dive team and Arlington PD responded to the scene along I-20 between Bowman Springs Road and SE Loop 820. Crews recovered the body of an adult male from the water.

“There were no obvious signs on the body or the surrounding banks to explain what led to his death,” police say.

The man did not have any identification on him. At this point, authorities have been unable to identify him.

The incident remains under investigation.

Fort Worth driver critically hurt in fiery rollover along I30

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a serious accident that occurred around 8:15pm this evening along lanes of West Freeway (Interstate 30) near West Loop 820.

Multiple emergency responders from Fort Worth FD, PD, and MedStar EMS responded to the scene and found one vehicle overturned off the roadway and on fire. Paramedics located the driver and transported him by ambulance to JPS with critical injuries.

The driver may have also been shot twice, officials say. Doctors from the hospital notified police of the discovery once the driver arrived at the hospital. Medical personnel found what’s believed to be two separate gunshot wounds.

Fort Worth’s Traffic Investigations Units along with Gun Violence Unit are investigating this incident. Expect police activity in this area.

Woman shot in face after flashing high beams at another motorist in Fort Worth

At 3:44am, Fort Worth police were dispatched to the 7-11 gas station at N. Beach Street and Highway 121 for a shooting. When emergency crews arrived, they located an adult female with a gunshot wound to the face.

The woman stated she was driving on Kings Oaks Lane, a residential street just south of the 7-11, when she approached an oncoming vehicle with its high beams activated. She flashed her own high beam headlights at the other vehicle to warn them they were on. As the oncoming vehicle passed her own vehicle, she was shot in the face. She then drove to the nearby 7-11 to call 9-1-1.

MedStar EMS transported her to THR Harris Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. There is no suspect in custody at this time.

Fort Worth PD is investigating the incident.

Armed man killed in officer involved shooting at Irving hospital

The Irving Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred Wednesday evening at Baylor Scott and White Hospital, 1901 N. MacArthur Blvd.

At around 7:00pm, a 34-year-old man arrived at the hospital’s ER for an undisclosed medical reason. He was taken into one of the emergency rooms for evaluation. About an hour later, a staff member checked on the man and reported unusual behavior and possession of a firearm. She notified a police officer at Baylor who also contacted an Irving police officer at the hospital on an unrelated matter.

When the two officers confronted the man about the weapon, he fired a single gunshot in the ER room. The officers attempted to get him to drop the weapon, but he pointed and fired at the officers. The officers returned fire, striking and killing him.

No officers were injured in the incident. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Officers were not pursuing and did not spike vehicle before fatal crash, Irving police say

The Irving Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred over the weekend in the 600 block of North Belt Line Road near Conflans Road.

Police say two vehicles were traveling northbound on Belt Line when they collided, sending one of the vehicles into a spin. This vehicle crashed off the roadway and hit a tree. The violent impact from the collision caused the vehicle to wrap around the tree.

A passenger inside the car was pronounced deceased. The driver was not seriously hurt. A third passenger sustained serious injuries.

The identities have not yet been released, but police say everyone inside the vehicle was in the 18-19 year old range.

A post circulating on social media indicated Irving police spiked the vehicle immediately before the crash occurred. Irving Police Department confirms their officers were not in pursuit and did not use the tire deflation system on either vehicle.

Police are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Duncanville police kill armed man at kids camp and stop potential active shooter situation

At 8:43am this morning, Duncanville police officers were dispatched to the Duncanville Fieldhouse, located in the 1700 block of S. Main Street at Highway 67, for reports of a possible active shooter inside the building. At least one 9-1-1 caller reported hearing gunshots.

At 8:45am, first arriving Duncanville police officers immediately went into the building and began a search for the shooter while children and adults fled outside.

Officers quickly located the armed individual and engaged in a shootout with the suspect. He was shot at least once. Duncanville paramedics transported him to a local hospital, but he was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation indicates the suspect walked into the front door armed with a handgun. An employee encountered the man and at least one shot was fired by the suspect. Other employees immediately began locking doors to safeguard the children. Police say the man attempted to get into a classroom, but he was unsuccessful. The suspect then moved into the gymnasium where first-arriving officers exchanged gunshots with him.

The summer camp for 4 to 14-year-olds was beginning its second week with an average attendance of over 250 campers and staff, police say. Due to the clear-headed actions of staff and the quick response time of law enforcement, there were no additional injuries. DeSoto PD and Cedar Hill PD also responded to this incident.

Duncanville ISD assisted by providing safe transportation for children, moving them by school bus from the Fieldhouse to the Duncanville Recreation Center, which was established as a reunification center. As of this release, all the children have been picked up by parents or guardians.

The Texas Department of Public Safety will be handing the officer involved shooting investigation.
