Man recklessly displays firearm, kills friend at party in Grand Prairie

The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Sunday night at a house in Grand Prairie.

At around 10:00pm, police and paramedics were called to the scene in the 2300 block of May Lane. They located a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the backyard of the home. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Detectives say a 37-year-old man “recklessly” displayed a firearm at the gathering and shot his friend in the chest.

The suspect was arrested and is currently being held at the Grand Prairie Detention Center on a charge of Manslaughter.

The victim has been identified as a 46-year-old man from Arlington.
