Intoxicated driver kills 5 in fiery Fort Worth crash

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 12:30 a.m. in the 4800 block of South Freeway near the Seminary Drive exit. 

South Division officers, Fort Worth FD, and MedStar EMS responded to an accident call involving two vehicles. The investigation revealed that a black vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and rear ended a sedan at the Seminary Drive exit ramp causing the sedan to catch on fire.

There were five occupants inside the sedan who did not survive. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Officer will release the identity of the deceased once next-of-kin has been notified. 

The driver of the black vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment and then to jail.

Eduardo Gonzalez, 19-year-old male of Fort Worth, is charged with five counts of Intoxication Manslaughter with Vehicle and Driving While Intoxicated. 

The Fort Worth Police Department reminds the community to never drink and drive. If you assume a driver is impaired, don’t hesitate to call 911.
