On October 7, 2025 approximately 6:10pm, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, along with multiple emergency response agencies, responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting possible drownings in the Brazos River near Hamm Creek Park.
Responding deputies and first responders initiated an immediate search and rescue operation. Tragically, two children, ages 5 and 7, were located in the water and pronounced deceased at the scene a few hours later.
The incident remains under investigation.
