Motorcyclist killed in crash while attempting to flee from Roanoke police

On Saturday, October 7, 2023 at approximately 10:14 p.m., a Roanoke police officer observed a motorcycle travelling southbound commit a traffic violation near the intersection of State Highway 377 and Parish Lane. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the motorcyclist immediately accelerated to a high rate of speed southbound on State Highway 377, striking the back of a sedan in the 700 block of State Highway 377.

As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist, an 18-year-old male from Palo Pinto, and the driver of the sedan, a 50-year-old male from Boyd, were both transported to Baylor Scott & White in Grapevine. The driver of the sedan was treated at the hospital and has since been released. The motorcyclist was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
