Driver killed in crash with commercial truck on the Dallas North Tollway

At around 2:58am this morning, Dallas Fire Rescue and DPS Troopers responded to a crash on the Dallas North Tollway near Forest Lane.

Investigators say a commercial truck had stopped in traffic due to a previous crash when the driver of a sedan collided with the back end of the truck.

The driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as a 36-year-old man from Dallas.

The investigation is ongoing.

Heavy rains a factor in fatal Grapevine crash, police say

At approximately 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, officers responded to a single vehicle crash in the 3900 block of SH-360. A witness spotted the wreckage after a car hit the guardrail then landed in the median.

Officers discovered the female driver was unresponsive and not breathing. They immediately got her out of the car and began CPR until paramedics arrived.

Grapevine Fire transported the woman to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Northbound lanes of SH-360 were closed for about four hours. The crash, life-saving measures and investigation all occurred during heavy rainfall. Investigators believe weather was a contributing factor in the accident.

The driver was identified as a 27-year-old woman from Oklahoma City.

City worker rescued from trench in University Park neighborhood

At around 10:30am this morning, University Park Fire Department responded to a trapped worker near the intersection of Binkley Avenue and Golf Drive.

Officials say a city worker was installing a sewer line when a side wall of the trench collapsed and trapped the worker in the pit from the waist down.

University Park firefighters requested the assistance of Dallas Fire Rescue’s Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams to help with the situation.

After about 30 minutes, the worker was freed and transported by paramedics to a local hospital in stable condition.

Three people shot, one fatally, at a large house party in Little Elm

At approximately 9:30 p.m. officers responded to the call of a shooting in the 2700 block of Sunlight Drive.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a large party at the residence. They located two victims: one deceased male and one female with life-threatening injuries. The female victim was transported to an area hospital and is in critical condition.

A third shooting victim was located two streets away on Evening Mist Drive.

Suspects are believed to have fled the area, and there is no threat to the public at this time.

Investigators are working with partygoers to identify the suspects in question.

This is an active investigation.

Car collides with school bus in Burleson; bus overturns

At around 8:09am this morning, Burleson Fire/EMS and Police responded to a major accident at the intersection of Wilshire Blvd and Summercrest Blvd.

When units arrived on scene, they located a passenger vehicle with heavy damage and an overturned school bus.

An occupant inside the vehicle was extricated by Burleson firefighters and airlifted to a Fort Worth trauma center via CareFlite.

There were no children on the school bus at the time of the collision. The school bus driver was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Child fatally struck by vehicle in Grand Prairie

The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, on a private drive, near the 6300 block of Mirabella Blvd.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., a pickup truck was traveling on a private drive when a 3-year-old child ran into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.

The child was transported to a local hospital where medical staff later pronounced the child deceased.

No criminal charges are expected to be filed.

Young woman dies in crash north of Weatherford

On Sunday, October 15, at around 1:15am in the morning, multiple emergency responders were called to a crash at Farm to Market Road 51 and N. Bend Road, just north of Weatherford.

DPS investigators say the driver of a small passenger vehicle attempted to make a left turn onto FM 51 from N. Bend Road when her vehicle was struck by two other cars.

The driver of the small passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene by PCHD EMS. She has been identified as an 18-year-old woman, who graduated from high school earlier this year. Four other occupants were inside the vehicle with her: three 18-year-olds and one 19-year-old. Three of them were transported to a Fort Worth hospital for treatment. The 19-year-old was treated and released at the scene.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were not seriously hurt.

The investigation is ongoing.

Dallas police looking for driver who struck, killed 7-year-old girl

On October 16, 2023, at about 12:15 a.m., Dallas Fire Rescue and Police responded to an accident in the 7600 block of Lyndon B Johnson Service Road.

The preliminary investigation determined a driver of a white vehicle was traveling eastbound on the service road and hit a 7-year-old girl laying in the roadway. The child died at the scene.

Further investigation determined the child was hit by another unknown vehicle prior to the white vehicle.  The driver of the white vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. 

Detectives are working to identify the driver and vehicle that initially hit the child and left the scene.

Two men found shot in parking lot of Denton’s Fred Moore High School

Denton PD detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 800 block of Cross Timber St. early Sunday morning.

On Oct. 15 at approximately 2:37 a.m., officers were dispatched to reports of a shooting in the area of Fred Moore High School. Multiple callers reported someone had been shot in the school parking lot. Officers arrived on scene and located two adult gunshot victims, who were transported to a local hospital. One of the gunshot victims, a 30-year-old male, was declared deceased at the hospital a short time later. The second victim, a 26-year-old male, remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The deceased victim’s name is not yet being released pending official identification from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

UPDATE: 3 shot at the State Fair of Texas

On Saturday evening, October 14, at around 7:45pm, Dallas police responded to a shooting at the Tower Building on the grounds of the Texas State Fair. A crime scene was located near the food court area.

First arriving officers located three individuals with gunshot wounds. Dallas Fire Rescue had staged multiple ambulances at Fire Station #44, just outside the fairgrounds, where victims were taken to awaiting ambulances for transport. Authorities say none of the victims have sustained life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation has determined one man shot another man. The suspect ran from the scene, but was quickly apprehended. Officers reviewed security footage from outside the location and confirmed he was the suspect.

A gun was also recovered. The individuals involved have also been identified.

Shortly after the incident, the State Fair announced its closure and advised all attendees to exit the park.

The investigation is ongoing.
