Vehicle fleeing crash scene runs red light, hits vehicle and kills driver in north Dallas

The Dallas Police Department has arrested a 20-year-old man and charged him with manslaughter after a serious crash on the evening of Friday, December 27th.

According to police, two vehicles were involved in a minor crash along the Dallas North Tollway near LBJ. One of the vehicles fled from the scene and was being chased by another vehicle.

The fleeing vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and ran the red light at Noel Road and Spring Valley Road. The fleeing vehicle impacted a sedan on the driver’s side.

The driver of the sedan hit by the fleeing vehicle was taken to Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, but died of his injuries. He has been identified as a 38-year-old male.

The fleeing driver has been arrested and charged with manslaughter. He has been identified as a 20-year-old male.

Fort Worth firefighter struck by vehicle while working a rollover crash

The Fort Worth Fire Department says one of their firefighters has been seriously injured while working a rollover crash earlier this morning near the 2900 block of Highway 114.

Latest information from the department indicates a firefighter from Engine 11 was struck while getting out of the fire engine. The fire engine was also struck. Units were arriving on the scene of a rollover accident on eastbound Highway 114 just past 156. The accident was dispatched just before 6:00AM.

Reports indicate the firefighter’s injuries are not life threatening. According to the department, he suffered a serious injury to a lower extremity and was taken to Baylor Grapevine for treatment. The firefighter is in stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and is cooperating with investigators.

Vehicle hits, kills pedestrian on I35E in Dallas

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a major accident involving a fatality that occurred just after 4:00AM this morning along northbound I35E near Continental Blvd.

According to law enforcement, a female pedestrian was in the northbound lanes when she was struck by a vehicle and knocked into the southbound lanes. The driver of the northbound vehicle did not have enough time to react.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dallas Fire-Rescue. The driver stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.

No charges are expected to be filed against the driver.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will make positive identification and cause of death.

Three people shot multiple times, one fatally, at northwest Dallas motel

The Dallas Police Department responded to a shooting this morning at the Deluxe Inn, 2615 Royal Lane, in the northwest Dallas area.

Officers were called to the scene just before 7AM. They located three people shot multiple times. One of the victims, a 34-year-old male, was deceased inside one of the motel rooms.

Two other people were located, one at the doorway of the motel room and the other near the entrance of the motel. Both males were shot multiple times and transported from the scene, unknown conditions.

No suspect information has been released at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

Newborn baby found dead in cooler at Dallas motel

The Dallas Police Department is asking for information after a newborn baby was found dead in a Dallas motel room.

According to Dallas PD, officers were dispatched to a welfare check on Saturday involving a 3-week old child at a motel in the 8300 block of S. Lancaster Road.

When emergency personnel arrived, the baby was found in a cooler in a motel room. The Dallas County Medical Examiner will issue a report on the cause of death.

10-year-old girl dies in go-kart crash at Motorsport Ranch

Law enforcement is investigating an accident involving a go-kart vehicle that occurred on Friday at the Motorsport Ranch in Cresson.

A 10-year-old girl was involved in a go-kart crash. She struck a fixed object and was ejected from the vehicle, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The girl, who was from Fort Worth, was transported to Cook Children’s Hospital, but pronounced deceased late Friday evening.

Motorsport Ranch is a country club for motoring enthusiasts – including sports cars, race cars, and motorcycles – south of Fort Worth.

UPDATE: Church security team members praised for stopping church gunman

Members from the law enforcement community have provided a brief update on the shooting incident that occurred earlier today at the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement.

Although additional details of the incident have yet to be released, many officials praised the heroic work of the church’s security team. Two professionally trained members of the church’s security team, who are also parishioners of the church, have been credited for their swift action. According to officials, the shooting was stopped within 6 seconds of beginning after the two security team members fired on the suspect, stopping the threat.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, ATF, White Settlement PD, and Fort Worth PD, are working on the investigation.

A law enforcement official did not release any details on the shooter, but did mention he has had multiple contacts with police agencies in the past.

Officials also confirmed the third victim has died from his injuries. “We lost two great men,” said a senior pastor from the church. All three people shot today, including the shooter, have died.

UPDATE: Three shot, two fatally, during White Settlement church service

Around 11AM this morning, multiple emergency responders were called to the scene of a shooting at the West Freeway Church of Christ in the 1900 block of S. Las Vegas Trail in White Settlement.

White Settlement Police and Fire along with Fort Worth Police, Fire, and MedStar EMS all responded with multiple units.

Multiple people were injured. MedStar confirms three people were shot, two fatally. One of those shot is the shooter.

According to a live video from the Church’s YouTube page, the shooting began just after an offering or communion had been passed. An individual sitting in the back of the sanctuary got up and spoke to another person in the back of the room, pulled out a weapon, and fired at least two shots. At that time, another armed person (possibly a security officer) drew his weapon and shot the shooter.

The ATF is on scene to assist with the investigation. A motive has not been released at this time.

Multiple units responding to “active threat” at church in White Settlement

Multiple White Settlement PD and Fort Worth PD, FD, and MedStar units are investigating an incident at a church in the 1900 block of S Las Vegas Trail.

Multiple patients have been injured. MedStar sending multiple ambulances to the scene. Reports indicate at least three injured, all seriously.

Fort Worth FD has dispatched an “active threat” response to the scene.

Update – This is confirmed to be a shooting at the West Freeway Church of Christ.

Update – Officials confirm three people shot including the shooter. At least one of the victims taken to JPS with major injuries. Two of the three shot have died.

Driver flees from crash on I-20, caught by Fort Worth PD’s Police Chief

Multiple emergency responders were called to the scene of a major accident just after 10:30AM this morning along eastbound I-20 near Campus Drive.

It was reported that a person was involved in a crash and then fled on foot, leaving the vehicle on the interstate. Multiple police from Fort Worth and Forest Hill PDs responded.

Officers engaged in a search and foot chase with the suspect in the Forest Hill area. Fort Worth PD’s Air-1 helicopter assisted with the search.

The suspect was eventually tracked down and caught by the Fort Worth Police Chief. A video from the Fort Worth PD Helicopter shows Chief Kraus taking the suspect into custody.
