Man struck, killed by 18-wheeler after crash in Denton County

On Thursday morning, August 30th, at around 5:40am, multiple emergency responders were called to the scene of a major accident on westbound Highway 114 near the Wise and Denton county line.

DPS investigators say a man was driving this sedan westbound on Highway 114 when he rear-ended an 18-wheeler. After the crash, the man got out of his sedan and ran across the westbound lanes when he was struck by a passing 18-wheeler.

The driver of the sedan has been identified as a 35-year-old man from Justin. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the initial crash.

There were no other injuries involved in this incident.

Westbound lanes of Highway 114 were closed while Texas Highway Patrol investigated the scene.

Young woman dies in Hurst crash

The Hurst Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred Monday afternoon.

At around 3:00pm, Hurst Fire/EMS and Police responded to a single vehicle crash along eastbound Highway 183 near Hurstview Drive.

Paramedics transported the 19-year-old female driver to a local hospital in critical condition. She was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

No one else was involved in the crash. It remains under investigation.

Fort Worth resident shot, killed during home burglary

At 12:13pm, Fort Worth police responded to a shooting at a house in the 3600 block of College Avenue.

Detectives say a group of suspects entered the home to conduct a robbery when they encountered a resident inside one of the bedrooms. At least one of the suspects shot the resident, who was found dead by police inside the home.

The suspects then fled the scene in a light colored vehicle.

The victim has been identified as an adult man.

Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.

One person killed in crash near Dallas Love Field

On Sunday, August 27th, at around 10:25pm, Dallas Fire Rescue and Police responded to the scene of a two-vehicle crash in the 3700 block of Inwood Road near Lemmon Avenue.

Dallas police say two vehicles collided and impacted a power pole, bringing down power lines in the area.

One person died at the scene and a second was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

Traffic has been impacted on Inwood Road while power crews restore the lines.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Man fatally struck by vehicles on the PGBT in Plano

This morning at 4:33am, Plano Fire/EMS and PD were dispatched to a serious injury crash between a vehicle and pedestrian on PGBT near Independence Parkway.

A witness stated a man jumped out in front of his vehicle on the tollway. Officers along with FD arrived within minutes and located a male lying in the third lane of traffic and began blocking traffic.

Officers observed that the male had been hit more than once by vehicles and had no signs of life.

DPS dispatch advised they saw the man walk out and lay down quickly in front of vehicles as an apparent suicide attempt.

Plano PD worked the incident along with our Crimes Against Persons Unit.

Pedestrian fatally struck on I35W after minor accident, police say

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred early Sunday morning along southbound I35W near Felix Street.

At around 12:29am, a minor chain reaction crash occurred on southbound I35W near Felix Street. Police say one of the occupants got out of their vehicle and was struck by a passing vehicle.

The pedestrian was transported to a Fort Worth hospital, but later pronounced deceased.

Southbound lanes of I35W were closed for around two hours while FWPD investigated the scene.

One killed, two seriously hurt in Fort Worth crash

At 4:39pm this afternoon, Fort Worth Fire Department, Police Department, and MedStar EMS responded to a crash in the 5200 block of Bryant Irvin Road near Cameron Creek Circle.

Police say a vehicle was traveling along Bryant Irvin Road when the it crashed and overturned.

One of the occupants was pronounced deceased while being transported to the hospital, police say. Two other individuals have been transported to Fort Worth hospital with serious injuries.

Bryant Irvin Road is currently closed while FWPD investigates the accident scene.

Driver of stalled vehicle struck, killed by intoxicated driver on Highway 360 in Arlington

On Sunday, August 27, 2023, at approximately 5:15 a.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to a hit and run crash in the 3600 block of S SH 360 near Mayfield Road.

Investigators believe a passenger vehicle was stalled in the outside lane facing southbound when a pickup truck struck the car, causing the driver to be ejected. The 33 year-old driver of the stalled vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene.

The pickup truck left the crash location without stopping. An out of agency, off-duty police officer followed the truck. Mansfield PD was able to stop the vehicle and contact the driver.

Arlington PD arrested the driver of the pickup truck and charged him with Intoxication Manslaughter and Failure to Stop and Render Aid.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.

At least 100 acres scorched in wildfire near Lake Whitney

Several fire departments and the Texas A&M Forest Service are working to contain a wildfire near Lake Whitney.

Firefighters in Bosque County were called this afternoon to the area of Kimball Bend Park for a growing grass fire. Mutual aid from several surrounding departments responded to help.

The Texas A&M Forest Service has also responded to assist. They are estimating the fire has burned at least 100 acres with 0% containment as of 8:30pm Saturday.

Traffic on Highway 174 has been impacted by this fire.

As weather conditions improve this evening, firefighters should be able to make some headway on containment.

Update – As of 9:30pm Saturday, containment has been updated to 30%.

Suspect arrested after fatal shooting in Plano

On August 25, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Plano Police Officers responded to the 6700 block of Roman Court in response to a shooting incident.

Upon officers’ arrival, a male victim was located on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately began lifesaving measures. Plano Fire-Rescue transported the victim to a Plano hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as a 52-year-old man.

William Holma, a 40-year-old male from Plano, TX is in custody, and had has been charged with murder. This incident is believed to be isolated with no threat to the public.

This incident is currently under investigation by the Crimes Against Persons Unit.
