Man dies after jumping from Denton apartment balcony to flee police

The Denton Police Department is investigating a domestic disturbance that turned deadly on Monday at an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Unicorn Lake Blvd.

At around 5:30pm on Monday evening, a woman called 9-1-1 to report her boyfriend had assaulted her. When officers arrived at the apartment, the woman told them her boyfriend had jumped off their apartment balcony when he saw police had responded to their argument.

Officers located the man on the ground with significant injuries. The Denton Fire Department was called to the scene. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

He has been identified as a 49-year-old male.

The investigation is ongoing.

Shots ring out during large fight in Fort Worth neighborhood; juvenile female killed

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a shooting secondary to a large fight at a roadway intersection in the Wedgewood neighborhood of southwest Fort Worth.

At around 7:45pm this evening, multiple Fort Worth PD officers were called to the intersection of 4300 Welch Avenue at Trail Lake Drive after 9-1-1 calls came in of a large fight. Reports indicate a group of 30-40 juveniles and adults were actively fighting.

During the fight, shots were fired, possibly by multiple people.

A juvenile female was struck and transported to a local hospital by private vehicle. She was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the facility.

The department’s Homicide Unit is currently investigating the scene. A large presence of officers remains at the intersection for the investigation process.

As more details are released, we will update this story.

Update – The victim has been identified as a 14-year-old juvenile female from Crowley.

Fort Worth firefighters extricate driver heavily trapped in wrecked Blue Bell truck

At around lunchtime on Christmas Eve, Fort Worth firefighters, police officers, and MedStar paramedics were called to the scene of a serious crash on westbound Interstate 20 near Hulen Street. All lanes were blocked as a result of the crash.

A driver in a Blue Bell truck collided with an 18-wheeler. The accident severely trapped the male driver of the Blue Bell truck. Fort Worth firefighters spent nearly an hour extricating the man, who was freed and taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.

“He is alive, but only by a miracle,” his wife said in a comment on our Facebook group. “Paramedics thought he wasn’t going to make it.”

He suffered major injuries to his lower extremities, including many broken bones. Unfortunately medical personnel were unable to save his leg, and had to amputate.

“I’m so thankful he is still here with me and our kids.”

Two women seriously hurt in unrelated pedestrian crashes in Plano

The Plano Police Department is investigating two serious crashes that occurred within 30 minutes of each other on Sunday evening in Plano.

The first crash occurred around 6:11pm in the 3200 block of Custer Road near Parker Road. A woman was struck by a vehicle while walking in the roadway. EMS transported her to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The second crash occurred around 6:30pm in the 500 block of E. 15th Street near the US-75 intersection. A woman was struck by a vehicle while walking in the roadway. EMS transported her to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Both crashes remain under investigation at this time.

Suspect crashes stolen vehicle after short chase in Arlington

At around 3:00pm this afternoon, an Arlington police officer located a stolen vehicle in the 3800 block of South Cooper Street near Arbrook Blvd. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off and officers initiated a pursuit.

The pursuit continued a short distance when the driver crashed into another vehicle near the 4300 block of South Bowen Road at Interstate 20.

The driver was quickly arrested and booked on multiple charges, including Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle, Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, and Abandoning / Endangerment of a Child.

The innocent driver was not seriously hurt in the crash. Two people were transported to area hospitals as a precaution.

Armed man arrested after standoff at Frisco apartments

The Frisco Police Department has taken an individual into custody following a barricaded person incident this afternoon.

Just before 1:00pm this afternoon, Frisco police officers were dispatched to a disturbance at 4949 Printers Way after a 9-1-1 hang up call. Dispatch reportedly heard a woman crying, advising she was locked in a closet and a man was not letting her leave.

The woman was able to exit the apartment, but police engaged in a standoff with an armed man inside the apartment.

A tactical team was called in to assist in apprehending the suspect. They took him into custody late this afternoon.

At this time, Frisco police are not releasing any additional information.

Mother and two kids killed in Parker County crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatality accident that occurred this afternoon along Highway 199 just west of Springtown in Parker County.

At 12:35pm, Parker County Emergency Services District #1, Lifecare EMS, and multiple law enforcement agencies responded to Highway 199 at Park View Court in regards to a major accident.

DPS Troopers believe an SUV was driving east on Highway 199 behind a pickup truck when the pickup truck slowed to turn left onto Park View Court. The driver of the SUV failed to slow and veered to the left in an attempt to avoid hitting the pickup truck. The SUV clipped the back of pickup truck, causing the SUV to slide into oncoming traffic. An oncoming vehicle broadsided the SUV.

The driver of the SUV, identified as a 25-year-old woman, and two children, identified as a 7-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl, were all pronounced deceased at the scene. Another driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Lanes of Highway 199 were closed while DPS Troopers investigated the scene.

Young driver runs red light, causes fatal crash in west Dallas

The Dallas Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred just after midnight at the intersection of Canada Drive and N. Westmoreland Road.

At 12:10am, Dallas Fire Rescue and Police were called to the intersection after two vehicles collided.

Traffic investigators believe a sedan was traveling southbound on N. Westmoreland Road when the driver, an 18-year-old male, ran a red light at the intersection with Canada Drive. This caused a westbound pickup truck to broadside the passenger vehicle on the driver’s side. The passenger vehicle overturned and hit a pole.

A rear passenger in the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as a 55-year-old male.

The 18-year-old driver of the vehicle at-fault was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries. The driver of the pickup truck, a 17-year-old male, was also transported to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.

Pedestrian killed after walking in front of 18-wheeler on Sam Rayburn Tollway

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatality accident that occurred last night in the southbound lanes of Sam Rayburn Tollway near Custer Road in the Frisco area.

At around 10:00pm, a pedestrian walked out in front of an 18-wheeler traveling southbound on the tollway. The driver of the semi truck attempted to take evasive action, but was unsuccessful. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. Their identity has not yet been released.

Investigators are trying to determine if the pedestrian intentionally walked onto the highway in front of the truck.

The truck driver was not hurt.

Lanes of southbound Sam Rayburn Tollway for closed at Exchange Parkway for hours while DPS investigated the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.

Driver killed in crash with 18-wheeler along I-20 in Fort Worth

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred this evening along westbound Interstate 20 near Bryant Irvin Road.

Just before 8:30pm tonight, Fort Worth firefighters and police officers along with MedStar EMS paramedics were called to the scene. All lanes of westbound Interstate 20 were closed.

Officials say a vehicle was traveling westbound when it hit the rear end of an 18-wheeler that had slowed due to construction in the area. The vehicle overturned after the impact.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. The driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured.

All lanes of westbound Interstate 20 have been reopened.
