The Arlington Police Department responded to a report of a shooting around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in the 6000 block of W. Poly Webb Road. Officers believe that this was the result of an attempted robbery of the victim. While it is still early in the investigation, detectives believe that the victim, a man in his 20’s, was jogging to a local gym in the area. The victim noticed a pickup truck that appeared to be following him and circle in front of him in a business parking lot. The victim reported that a suspect, later determined to be a juvenile, exited from the passenger side of the pickup and pointed a firearm at him while demanding his property. The victim pulled out a concealed firearm and began shooting at the suspect, striking him at least once in the leg.
The suspect fled to the pickup truck which was later found abandoned on Cedar Cove Court and Lindberg Drive. The pickup was determined to be stolen out of Arlington on February 16, 2017. Officers received information that the suspect then entered an SUV driven by an adult female. This SUV was stopped by officers at the intersection of Poly Webb Road and Little Road. The suspect was compliant and transported to the hospital for treatment. Based upon the fact that the suspect is a juvenile, no additional identifying information will be released on the suspect.
Detectives are still trying to figure out the female’s involvement and determine who the driver of the pickup was. The victim was not injured and is being interviewed by detectives. Crime scene is processing both vehicles and the shooting scene.
