Driver of stalled vehicle killed after being hit on I-30 in Dallas

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality accident that occurred on Saturday evening along westbound Interstate 30 near Cockrell Hill Road.

At around 5:30PM, Dallas Fire-Rescue and DSO deputies were called to the scene after two vehicles collided on the main lanes of the highway.

Police say a sedan was stalled in the left center lane of westbound I-30 when a Ford pickup truck rear-ended the vehicle at highway speeds. The driver of the Ford pickup truck, who was not seriously injured, said he could not avoid the stalled vehicle.

The driver of the stalled vehicle was seriously injured in the collision. Dallas Fire Rescue paramedics transported him to Methodist Dallas hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. He has not yet been identified.

The crash remains under investigation.
