Woman walking along Highway 114 struck, killed by vehicle in Westlake

At around 3:45am this morning, multiple emergency responders from Westlake and other agencies responded to a serious crash in the eastbound lanes of Highway 114 near 170.

The Keller Police Department, which investigates crashes in the area, reports that a woman was walking over the bridge along Highway 114 when she stepped into a lane of traffic to walk around an 18-wheeler on the shoulder. The truck had blocked the view of the pedestrian, police say.

A passing vehicle struck the woman, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. She has been identified as a 49-year-old woman.

The driver who hit her stopped at the scene and called 9-1-1 to report the incident.

Lanes of the highway were closed for a few hours while police investigated the scene. Lanes reopened around 7:00am.
