Update: Pallets catch fire at Dallas recycling facility
On Sunday, March 16, at 3:43 p.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) units were dispatched in response to a 911 call for a fire at the Cham Star Recycling facility, located at 4141 Singleton Blvd.
When first arriving companies arrived at the large commercia facility, they reported out with heavy fire and black smoke coming from behind the location. Using hand lines, and multiple aerial ladder towers to spray water from above, firefighters worked to bring the fire under control. As it currently stands, there are several hot spots remaining within the remnants, so an excavator has been requested to dig through the debris to find and extinguish them.
According to on scene personnel, most of what was burning was pallets holding various paper materials. There was no one working in the area where the fire began, and there were no reported injuries.
DFR’s HazMat team was dispatched as a precaution, but they confirmed that no hazardous materials were involved in the fire.
The cause of this fire is undetermined.
