Garland officer shot, suspect killed during overnight shooting

At around midnight, Garland police received a report that someone was firing a gun in the area of 100 W. Wanda Drive.

When the first Garland officer arrived at the scene, he was immediately met with gunfire which struck him and his patrol car.

The injured officer was able to retreat from the area and seek medical attention. He is in stable condition.

Additional officers responded to the scene and located the suspect near a house. Shots were fired and the suspect was struck.

He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased.

UPDATE: Woman dies after being struck by stray bullet in backyard of Forest Hill home

On Saturday, February 22nd, at around 7:15pm, Forest Hill Police and Fire along with MedStar EMS responded to a shooting in the 3900 block of Frisco Avenue in the city of Forest Hill.

Upon arrival, officers found two victims in the backyard of a residence who had been struck by stray bullets. Medical personnel began treating both victims; however, one of the victims, a 36-year-old woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officers determined the stray bullets came from an area approximately one block north of the crime scene. Multiple agencies executed a search warrant of a location near the scene, and located several firearms. Authorities are working to determine who fired the bullets that struck both victims.

“Officials stress that this incident appears to be isolated and is not related to the shooting on Mansfield Highway,” police said in their press release.

Forest Hill PD and DPS continue to work the investigation.

Driver killed in fiery Grapevine crash

Grapevine Police are investigating a deadly crash in the 2500 block of Mustang Drive overnight. 

At around 2:15 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, a vehicle was traveling westbound on Mustang Drive near Heritage when it veered off the road and hit a tree in the median. The vehicle caught on fire and was engulfed in flames when officers arrived on scene.

Firefighters arrived a few minutes later to put out the fire, and medics pronounced the driver deceased.

The medical examiner will identify the driver following notification to next of kin. The driver was the sole occupant inside the vehicle. 

A portion of Mustang Drive was closed this morning while police examined the scene and cleared debris. The crash remains under investigation.

Motorcyclist killed in Grapevine crash

Just after 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, a motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Ira E. Woods when another vehicle going the opposite direction turned into the parking lot of a business. The motorcycle struck the vehicle, and the rider was ejected on impact. 

The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with multiple injuries, and later died at the hospital.

He has been identified as a 21-year-old man from Colleyville.

The other driver was treated for minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.

Welfare check leads to homicide investigation at Joshua home

On Thursday, February 13th, Joshua PD and other agencies were called to a welfare check at a home in the 1200 block of County Road 904 in the city of Joshua.

When emergency personnel arrived, they located the body of a 75-year-old woman who lived at the property. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her death was ruled a homicide as a result of blunt force trauma.

Investigators determined a homicide had taken place. A suspect was identified as a relative of the victim, and law enforcement agencies began a search to find him.

On February 15th, a subject was taken into custody related to this Murder. He has been identified as Cameron Houston. He remains at the Johnson County jail on a $1.5 million dollar bond.

Dallas police looking for driver who struck, killed 6-year-old girl

On February 16, 2025, at approximately 10:25 p.m., Dallas Police officers and Dallas Fire Rescue responded to a 9-1-1 call in the 5900 block of Belt Line Road.

The preliminary investigation determined an unknown suspect was traveling westbound in a white newer model Acura MDX (pictured below) when they struck a 6-year-old girl in the street. The suspect pulled into an adjacent parking lot and then fled the scene without rendering aid.

The vehicle was last seen heading westbound on Belt Line Road.

Dallas Fire Rescue responded and transported the child to a local hospital where she died. This remains an ongoing investigation.

The child’s name will not be released due to their age.

Woman fatally struck by vehicle in Parker County

At around 10:15pm Sunday evening, Parker County Emergency Service District #1, Parker County Hospital District EMS, and DPS Troopers responded to a major accident involving a pedestrian on the eastbound lanes of Highway 199 near Jay Bird Lane.

When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they located a woman laying in the eastbound lanes of the highway. Investigators determined she was struck by a passing vehicle.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as a 65-year-old woman who lived not far from where the accident occurred.

The driver remained at the scene after the collision.

TxDPS is investigating the accident.

UPDATE: Man kills roommate at southeast Arlington home, flees the scene

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting at a home in the 7800 block of Salton Lane.

At approximately 6:53 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, officers responded to a report of a shooting in progress that resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man.

According to the complainant, the victim was shot by his roommate before the suspect fled the scene. The suspect vehicle was later found abandoned. The victim was transported to an Arlington hospital and pronounced deceased early this afternoon.

The motive for the homicide is under investigation, and the suspect remains at large. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Arlington Police Department.

Trucker killed in fiery Dallas crash

At around 3:00am this morning, Dallas Fire Rescue and Dallas County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a major accident along eastbound I20 at Highway 310 in southeast Dallas.

Officials say the driver of an 18-wheeler was traveling along the eastbound lanes of the highway. The trucker came upon an accident and swerved to avoid crashing into the scene. This maneuver caused the 18-wheeler to crash off the highway and burst into flames.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was killed in the crash.

Lanes of eastbound I20 were reopened around 1:00pm this afternoon.

Overnight crash claims life of young man near Alvarado

At around 4:00am this morning, Johnson County ESD, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, and DPS Troopers responded to a vehicle accident in the 3500 block of FM 2738 near County Road 607.

Law enforcement officers arrived to find a single vehicle with major damage. One person was unresponsive at the scene. A CareFlite helicopter was initially launched, but later disregarded due to the severity of injuries.

A 19-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as a resident of Alvarado who lived around the corner from where the accident occurred.

DPS Troopers are investigating the cause of the crash.
