Area of Downtown Dallas to be blocked for building implosion Saturday morning
Officials in Dallas are warning residents, drivers, and visitors of downtown to avoid the area surrounding 505 North Ervay Street Saturday morning due to a building implosion.
A ‘Safety Zone’ has been designated surrounding the building. This zone encompasses city blocks within a boundary of North Field Street, San Jacinto Street, North St. Paul Street, and Pacific Avenue. (see map below)
Street closures will be implemented between the hours of 6am and 10am for the implosion. The implosion is expected to take place around 7:30am.
Residents and drivers are asked to avoid the Safety Zone during the times noted. For those living within the boundary, the implosion will create a noise roughly as loud as an outdoor warning siren. An unavoidable dust cloud will be created that should dissipate in approximately five minutes after the implosion. Residents should close windows and exterior doors during this time.
DART trains will temporarily stop service in this area for approximately 10 minutes prior to and after the implosion.
The approximately 120,000+ sq. foot building is currently owned by First Baptist Dallas.
