Man accidentally shoots self in leg at Arlington business

At around 11:00am this morning, Arlington police officers responded to a business in the 1900 block of E. Abram Street to investigate a reported shooting.

When they arrived, they found a 36-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg. He told officers his gun went off as he was unbuckling his belt to use the restroom.

The man was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators learned the man had previous felony convictions, which legally bars him from possessing a weapon. Once he is medically cleared from the hospital, he will be booked into the Arlington City Jail on one count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
