UPDATE: Driver of 18-wheeler fell asleep, caused multi-fatal crash in Kaufman County, officials say

At approximately 2:40 p.m. Texas Highway Patrol Troopers were dispatched to a major crash at Interstate 20 westbound four miles east of Terrell.

Preliminary investigation indicates that traffic on I-20 was backed up due to a previous crash. The driver of a red semi-truck fell asleep behind the wheel and struck a pickup truck carrying five occupants.

That semi-truck was then pushed into two other semi-trucks. One of the semi-trucks jack-knifed as a result of the impact and struck three other vehicles.

There were five occupants in the pickup. One of the occupants was transported via CareFlite to a Dallas hospital with life-threatening injuries. Four others were pronounced deceased on scene. The occupant of one of the vehicles impacted by the jack-knifed 18-wheeler was also pronounced deceased on scene.  

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is currently available. 

Overnight crash claims life of man along US-75 in Allen

The Allen Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Sunday morning on southbound US 75, just south of the Bethany Drive overpass.

At approximately 6:55 a.m., officers responded to a major crash involving a vehicle and an 18-wheeler. Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle left its lane of travel and struck the rear of the tractor-trailer combination, which was temporally stopped on the right shoulder with its emergency hazard lights activated.

Allen Police and Allen Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and located the driver of the vehicle unresponsive and trapped inside the vehicle. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Collin County Medical Examiner.

A passenger in the vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The driver of the tractor-trailer combination was not injured and remained at the scene to cooperate with investigators.

Two southbound lanes of US 75 were closed for several hours while officers conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.

The deceased has been identified as 52-year-old man of Garland.

This incident remains under investigation by the Allen Police Department Traffic Unit. No further information is available at this time.

Man’s body recovered from Lake Lewisville

On the evening of June 28, Lewisville Fire Department and Texas Game Wardens responded to a possible drowning on Lake Lewisville.

Lewisville 9-1-1 received reports of a man who went under water and did not resurface near the Pier 121 Marina.

Emergency responders launched rescue boats, but were able to locate the man on Saturday evening.

On Sunday, June 29, game wardens located the 28-year-old man’s body with the assistance of Towboat U.S. His body was recovered by divers with the Lewisville Fire Department.

One person killed in wrong-way crash, Fort Worth police say

On Sunday morning at 1:07am, Fort Worth Fire and Police along with Medstar EMS responded to a major accident in the northbound lanes of I35W near Berry Street.

Officers arrived to find a two-vehicle crash with major damage. It was determined that one vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when the collision occurred.

The vehicle travelling in the wrong direction was occupied only by the driver, while the other vehicle contained two occupants.

The passenger of the vehicle that was struck by the wrong way driver was pronounced deceased on scene. The drivers of both vehicles were transported to an area hospital by medical personnel with serious injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.

Man swimming near boat drowns at Joe Pool Lake

At approximately 11:20 a.m. Saturday morning, Grand Prairie Fire Department responded to a report of a possible drowning at Joe Pool Lake.

A witness reported that a male was last seen swimming off a boat and did not resurface.

The Grand Prairie Public Safety Dive Team conducted a search and recovered the body of the 46-year-old male. He was not wearing a life vest.

“As the lake season continues, GPFD strongly encourages the public to wear a life vest or an appropriate personal flotation device while near or in the water.”

Bodies of man and woman recovered from Lake Lewisville

On the evening of June 17, Texas Game Wardens in Denton County were dispatched to Lake Lewisville for a report of two missing boaters after their vessel was found beached.

Game Wardens resumed their search for the boaters June 18 and were joined by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The Texas Game Warden Underwater Search and Recovery Team and other local agencies continued their search today. The male victim was recovered this morning and the female victim was recovered this afternoon.

Both have been released to the Denton County ME.

The incident remains under investigation.

Two juveniles killed in Wise County crash

On Monday, June 16, at around 6:44am, multiple emergency responders were called to a crash on Highway 380 near County Road 4011 east of Decatur.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a pickup truck pulled out to cross Highway 380 from Private Road 4011 and was struck by an 18-wheeler. Impact of the collision caused the 18-wheeler to overturn.

The 16-year-old driver of the pickup truck was transported by ambulance to a trauma center, but was pronounced deceased from her injuries. A 13-year-old male passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A third occupant, 12-year-old female, was transported to a local hospital.

The 18-wheeler driver was not seriously hurt.

The investigation is ongoing.

One person killed in Deep Ellum shooting

On June 15, 2025, at about 12:25 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call in the 200 block of south Hall Street.

The preliminary investigation determined that a 32-year-old man had been shot at the location. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene, where he was pronounced deceased.

This is an ongoing investigation documented under case number 084934-2025 and will be referred to a Grand Jury.

Alleged intruder shot, killed at Weatherford business

On Sunday, June 15, at around 1:00pm, Weatherford police officers responded to an incident at a business in the 2500 block of E. I20.

Initial reports indicate a business owner, who is also an off-duty police officer, arrived at his building to find a man loading items from the business to his vehicle. The officer attempted to stop the intruder, but he got into his vehicle and attempted to run over the business owner/off-duty officer, leading him to shoot the intruder.

The alleged burglar was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to CLEAT, the off-duty officer is with Arlington Police Department.

The Texas Rangers will be assisting Weatherford PD with the investigation due to the involvement of an off-duty officer.

This is an ongoing investigation.

19-year-old killed, two others hurt in Fort Worth shooting

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at approximately 12:30 a.m.

Fort Worth police officers were dispatched to a shooting call in the 3700 block of N. Houston St.  Upon arrival officers located two shooting victims on scene. Both victims were transported to area hospitals for medical treatment.  One victim did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The second victim is expected to survive his injuries.

A third shooting victim was transported by private vehicle to an area hospital and is expected to survive. 

Detectives found that there was a party at a residence when two females became involved in an argument over one of the shooting victims.  Unknown suspects arrived on the scene and one of the suspects became involved in a physical altercation with one of the shooting victims. The suspect produced a handgun and fired multiple shots striking the victims. 

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. 

Homicide detectives are investigating. 

No arrests have been made at this time. 

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the manner, cause of death, and identity of the deceased.
