UPDATE: Two bicyclists struck, killed by vehicle in Denton County
On Saturday morning, December 20th, at around 8:19am, Pilot Point Police and Fire/EMS along with Celina Fire/EMS responded to a major accident involving a pedestrian on Farm to Market Road 455 near Fritcher Road in rural Denton County.
When units arrived on scene, they located two bicyclists down with major injuries. A CareFlite helicopter was called to the scene and airlifted one of the riders to a Plano trauma center, but he died.
The second individual was transported by Celina paramedics to a local hospital, and also died.
“As many of you have heard, our Frisco Triathlon Club community lost two of our beloved members in a tragic accident this morning. We are heartbroken.” said the Frisco Triathlon Club in a public statement.
PPPD did not release any details about the driver who hit them.
Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted with the investigation, which is still ongoing.
