UPDATE: Two people killed in far north Dallas apartment fire

On Saturday, December 13, at 3:21 a.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) units were dispatched to an apartment fire at 4055 Frankford Rd, in far North Dallas.

When companies arrived on scene, they observed heavy fire coming from an apartment on the first floor of a two-story apartment building; and with reports of multiple residents potentially being trapped inside, a second alarm response was requested.

Two residents occupied the apartment of origin. One of them was able to make it out of the apartment, but was transported by DFR in critical condition. Unfortunately, that resident later succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Firefighters found the unresponsive body of the second resident inside the apartment, but they were pronounced dead on scene due to the severity and extent of their injuries.

The cause of the fire will be under investigation pending the final results from the ME.
