Juvenile killed in accidental shooting at Fort Worth apartments

On April 5, 2026, at approximately 5:17 p.m., South Division officers were dispatched to 6600 block of S. Hulen Street, an apartment community, in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a 16 year old juvenile male victim with a gunshot wound who was pronounced deceased.

Officers learned that two teenagers were inside a residence at this location when one accidentally discharged a firearm, striking the other in the chest. The 16 year old juvenile male suspect was detained. 

Homicide detectives were notified and will investigate what led to the shooting. 

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased and determine the official cause and manner of death.
