Burleson Fire and Police along with Fort Worth Police and Fire responded to an auto-pedestrian crash in the 700 block of southbound Interstate 35W at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Thursday, July 23.

Upon arrival, first responders determined that an adult female had been struck while attempting to cross the interstate.

The preliminary investigation found no signs of intoxication or criminal wrongdoing by the driver.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Little Elm Police Department officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots and juveniles running through the neighborhood near White Oak Drive and White Pine Drive.

The preliminary investigation indicates the incident originated at a short-term rental property that had been booked for a juvenile birthday party. Investigators have determined that the majority of those in attendance were students from Lewisville High School.

One juvenile sustained a gunshot wound resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. The victim self-transported to a local hospital prior to officers’ arrival.

The investigation remains active as detectives continue to collect evidence and interview witnesses.

At this time, the incident appears to be isolated, and the investigation remains ongoing. There is no threat to the public.

The Little Elm Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Frisco Police Department, Oak Point Police Department, and the Denton County Sheriff’s Office.

The Town of Little Elm reminds residents and visitors that Town ordinances prohibit parties and events at short-term rental properties. These regulations are in place to help protect the safety and quality of life of our neighborhoods and to reduce the likelihood of incidents involving large, unsupervised gatherings.The Town is reviewing potential enforcement action related to the owners of the short-term rental property.

On Friday, July 17, at approximately 6:26pm, McKinney Fire/EMS and Police responded to a major accident at the intersection of Custer Road and Bedford Road.

Emergency responders arrived to find two vehicles involved in a crash.

Two occupants inside one of the vehicles were pronounced deceased at the scene. McKinney police have identified the victims as a 77-year-old man and 77-year-old woman, who lived just around the corner from the accident scene, according to public records.

The driver and occupant of the other vehicle were not seriously hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on Interstate 20 during the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

On July 16, 2026, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Crimes Unit received information from a local business after the owner saw news coverage of the investigation. The business reported that one of its drivers had returned a company van with damage consistent with the vehicle description released by investigators. The driver reportedly told the business she believed she had struck a dog.

Vehicle Crimes Unit investigators immediately followed up on the information, collected evidence, and developed probable cause in the case. Based on the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Elana Kaye Peronis on a charge of Collision Involving Death.

Peronis was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Dallas County Jail.

The investigation began on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at approximately 12:22 a.m., when Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Deputies responded to a major crash on eastbound Interstate 20 between Dowdy Ferry Road and St. Augustine Road.

The preliminary investigation determined that the driver of an 18-wheeler had experienced mechanical issues and was stopped on the highway shoulder. A second 18-wheeler driver arrived to assist by delivering a replacement part. While the driver of the disabled truck was outside his vehicle making repairs, he was struck by a vehicle that traveled onto the shoulder.

The driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene without stopping or rendering aid.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere appreciation to the business that came forward after recognizing the vehicle description from media coverage. This case highlights the critical role the community plays in assisting law enforcement and demonstrates how public awareness the news media provides, can directly contribute to solving serious crimes.

The investigation remains an active investigation.
