Three juveniles on stolen horses hit by vehicle in Dallas; one rider killed

On March 14, 2023 at around 5:30 am, Dallas police and Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle crash at Great Trinity Forest and Julius Schepps Freeway.

A preliminary investigation determined the crash involved three horses and three riders. One rider, a 14-year-old, died at the scene. The two others, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old, were taken to local hospitals in stable condition.

Police say the three riders appear to be juveniles and the horses were stolen.

One horse died at the scene, another was euthanized at the scene by a veterinarian. The third horse was injured, but is expected to live.

Preliminary information provided was that the involved vehicle left the scene, however, the driver did remain at the location.

No charges are expected for the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
