Two women and a dog killed in Arlington structure fire
On Sunday May 21, 2023, at around 10:30pm, the Arlington Fire Department and Police Department responded to reported “gunshots”, smoke, and flames near the 4200 block of Shorewood Drive.
Arlington Police Department arrived on scene initially to secure and investigate. Responding officer reported structure fire and cleared fire department units to make scene.
Fire crews arrived to find a fire involving a shed. This structure turned out to be a living quarter behind the house. The fire was extinguished with the resources of a one-alarm fire and second-alarm units canceled en route.
This fire resulted in the fatality of a 67-year-old female, 30-year-old female, and one dog. They were pronounced deceased on the scene.
Arlington Fire Department investigators determined the fire started on the front porch of the structure from a recreational fire left unattended.
The investigation is ongoing.
