Two arrested, two severely hurt in crash while fleeing Haltom City police

On Friday, June 23rd at approximately 4:40 A.M., a Haltom City patrol officer spotted a Kia Soul and Kia Optima traveling east in the 5400 block of East Belknap at over 70 miles per hour. The officer attempted a traffic stop on both vehicles, but both drivers failed to yield.

Both vehicles continued east onto Baker Boulevard at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour and seemed to be working together to evade officers. Both vehicles crossed over the 820 bridge onto Hwy 10 and crashed into the concrete
construction barriers.

Two suspects from the Kia Soul ran on foot but were arrested by officers. Both occupants in the Kia Optima sustained significant injuries and are being treated at a local hospital.

This offense includes several juvenile suspects and at least one adult.

Initial information indicates that both vehicles were possibly stolen. Several local agencies assisted with the accident investigation.

This is still an ongoing investigation, and additional arrests and/or charges may be forthcoming. Information will be released as it becomes available. Identities of any adult arrestees will not be released until they have been arraigned by a magistrate. Juvenile identities will not be released.
