17-year-old cousins die in crash near Red Oak
On Thursday afternoon at around 3:30pm, Red Oak Fire and Rescue and DPS were dispatched to a crash at the intersection of Pierce Road and Stagecoach Drive.
DPS investigators say a vehicle was traveling at an “unsafe speed” on Pierce Road when the driver lost control and struck a fence.
The driver, a 17-year-old female, and a passenger, also a 17-year-old female, were pronounced deceased at the scene. They were not wearing seatbelts, according to DPS.
Family has identified the two victims as cousins.
The crash remains under investigation.
