Stolen vehicle suspects in custody after pursuit, crash in Fort Worth

On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, shortly after 5:00 p.m., Fort Worth Police officers observed a stolen vehicle from Tarrant County leaving an apartment complex in the 6200 block of Granbury Cut Off St. in West Fort Worth. Officers utilized their emergency lighting in an attempt to stop the vehicle and the driver failed to stop.

The stolen vehicle continued to travel eastbound toward Granbury Rd. and the I-20 service road. As the suspect forced his way through stopped traffic, he sideswiped several vehicles at an intersection causing minor damage and no injuries.

The stolen vehicle continued to flee at a high rate of speed and traveled eastbound down the service road, where the driver ran a red light and struck a vehicle at the intersection of the service road and Trail Lake Drive, causing it to roll over. The rollover vehicle had one occupant that was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After this crash, all three of the occupants from the stolen vehicle fled from officers on foot. Two of the occupants ran into a nearby convenience store, and were apprehended. The driver ran toward a nearby neighborhood and hid in a resident’s garage. FWPD Air One helicopter was able to spot this suspect, and officers were able to remove him from the garage and take him into custody without incident.

Officers found a handgun in the stolen vehicle.

The three suspects in this case are two adult males and one juvenile. The adult males have been transported to Fort Worth City Jail and the juvenile has been transported to a juvenile detention center.

The names and charges of the two adult males will be released once the suspects have been arraigned.

The Fort Worth Police Department continues to strive to keep our communities safe from violent criminals and their reckless and dangerous actions that put innocent people at risk.

Shootout injures three men at north Arlington music studio

At around 10:25pm Saturday, officers responded to a shopping center in the 800 block of E. Lamar Blvd. Employees at one of the businesses there called 911 to report that a man had shown up their store with a gunshot wound, asking them to call for help.

The victim indicated he was shot at another location in the 2100 block of N. Collins Street – and had walked over to the business on Lamar.

While some officers went to the location where the victim was, others started making their way to location on N. Collins Street where he’d been shot. As they were en route, officers got a hit on a stolen vehicle that was seen leaving that same location on N. Collins Street. Believing this vehicle may be connected to the shooting, officers attempted to pull over the vehicle. The driver, however, did not stop and continued going. Officers initiated a short pursuit and followed the vehicle until the driver came to a stop in the 1500 block of NE Green Oaks Blvd.

Back at the Lamar location, officers found the victim, a 29-year-old man, and began providing care until paramedics arrived. He was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He told officers he was at a recording studio on N. Collins Street producing music when two masked men entered and began firing. He indicated that he was armed as well and returned fire, possibly striking the two suspects.

Once officers got the car stopped in the 1500 block of NE Green Oaks Blvd, they learned there were two people inside – the driver, 30-year-old Kinton Jones, and a passenger, 52-year-old George Duncan – and both of them had gunshot wounds. They were both transported to area hospitals. Mr. Jones’ wounds do not appear to be life-threatening. Mr. Duncan is currently in ICU.

Officers recovered guns and a face mask from the vehicle. Investigators believe they are the suspects from the shooting at the N. Collins St location.

Once cleared from the hospital, Mr. Jones will be charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (he had prior felony convictions), Evading, and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. Mr. Duncan will be charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Based on evidence collected at N. Collins Street location, investigators believe high-risk drug activity may be involved. The investigation is ongoing.
