Wanted suspect fires at officers during pursuit, killed by Dalworthington Gardens police

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, the Dalworthington Gardens Department of Public Safety received information from the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office that threats of violence and death had been made against members of a household in Dalworthington Gardens (DWG). The notification also included information that the individual had an active warrant for Assault Serious Bodily Injury Family Violence with Previous Conviction; was reportedly armed with multiple firearms; and had made threats to kill law enforcement officers. As a result, the residence was placed on a Close Patrol, where officers checked on the location multiple times per shift.

On Friday, July 12, 2024, at approximately 2:27 a.m., officers with the Dalworthington Gardens Department of Public Safety were checking on the residence that had been placed on a Close Patrol and they encountered the wanted person that had made threats against the family, and law enforcement. The officers attempted to stop the individual, but they did not comply and instead attempted to evade officers using a motor vehicle. DWG officers pursued the individual and were assisted by officers from the Town of Pantego, and other agencies.

The wanted person led officers on a pursuit to the City of Midlothian, in Ellis County, where the individual rammed two pursuing patrol units and fired a weapon at officers. Multiple officers returned fire, striking the individual.

Once it was safe, medical intervention was performed and the individual was transported to a local hospital by ambulance where they succumbed to their injuries.

The name of the individual is not being released at this time pending notification to the family.

No officers were injured during the incident. The investigation into this incident is being conducted by the Texas Rangers.
