Woman killed after confrontation over stolen vehicle at Fort Worth motel, police say

On Friday, December 12, 2025, at approximately 5:20 a.m., Fort Worth Police Department officers were called to a shooting at a motel located at the 1800 block of Jacksboro Highway.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female with an apparent gunshot wound to her abdomen. She was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment but succumbed to her injuries.

Preliminary details indicate that the owner of a stolen vehicle located it at the motel. This vehicle was stolen but had not been reported to police. The vehicle owner and a female with him, attempted to recover the stolen vehicle and an incident occurred where the female was shot.

The two individuals that were in the stolen vehicle then fled the scene on foot.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and are actively investigating.

All indications suggest this to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Information shared with police earlier indicated that the stolen vehicle may have been involved in a drive by shooting earlier this morning. Detectives are still working to confirm if this is the same vehicle or not.
