UPDATE: Hit-and-run suspect dies in crash while attempting to evade FWPD

On March 2, 2026, at approximately 4:38 p.m., Fort Worth Police officers were dispatched to a hit-and-run accident in the eastbound lanes of I30 near Horne Street.

The caller advised his vehicle was struck by another vehicle, and he was following the suspect vehicle because it failed to stop after the accident.

Officers eventually located the suspect vehicle near Camp Bowie Blvd and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver failed to yield, and a brief pursuit ensued eastbound on Camp Bowie Boulevard.

It is believed the suspect struck a curb at the 3700 block of Camp Bowie Blvd, lost control of the vehicle, and then crashed into a tree.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene. There have been no reported injuries to officers or citizens.

The Fort Worth Police Department Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating, along with the Major Case Unit.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will positively identify the deceased and determine the cause and manner of death.
