Great job APD!
Fantastic job, Alvarado PD! This morning, just after midnight, Alvarado Police Officers were notified that a 2011 Chevy Truck had just been stolen from the 8200 block of Happy Trails, a residence just outside the city limits. Officers believed that whoever had taken the vehicle would likely be heading towards the interstate. Soon the officer’s belief was verified and the vehicle was located as it attempted to go on to IH35W northbound, towards Fort Worth. The suspect, later identified as Richard Brian Tatum (W/M 26 years old), failed to stop as the police attempted to pull him over. A pursuit then ensued heading northbound on IH35W. The pursuit went northbound to FM 1187. Tatum then drove eastbound on FM 1187 and then northbound into a subdivision. When the vehicle reached a dead end he continued off road towards open fields, driving through 3 fences. The pursuit eventually came to an end when the truck went off a dry pond embankment in rural Tarrant County. Tatum was taken into custody at that time. He was arrested for Evading Arrest with a vehicle and Theft of Property over $20K. No officers or the suspect was injured in the pursuit. Tatum also had an active warrant out of the Fort Worth Police Department and an extensive criminal history.
Great police work on the part of the officers for the arrest of this suspect and for the recovery of the victim’s property. The victim’s truck did not appear to receive major damage beyond scratches where it was ramming through fences.
