Parker County ESD #1 firefighters rescue woman and dog from Tuesday night house fire

A line of severe thunderstorms rolled through Tuesday night, bringing heavy rain and frequent lightning. In the midst of the storm, firefighters from the Parker County Emergency Services District #1 were dispatched to a house fire in the 200 block of Live Oak Road in Parker County.

A 9-1-1 caller reported she was handicapped and trapped inside of her house that was on fire. Firefighters from Engine 48, Tanker 48, Engine 51, and Chief 102 were dispatched to the fire at 9:44pm. Engine 51 arrived in six minutes and confirmed a working structure fire.

Lt. Joe Ashcraft made entry into the house and encountered heavy fire inside the residence. He found his way to the bedroom and rescued the trapped female from the house at approximately 9:54pm, four minutes after arriving on the scene. While Lt. Ashcraft rescued the female, other members of Engine 51 stretched a hose line to attack fire.

Engine 48 arrived at 9:55pm and assisted with fire attack. Firefighters were also able to rescue a dog inside the residence.

The female was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation and her pet was treated at the scene and turned over to Animal Control.

Lightning is the suspected cause of Frisco house fire

A strong cluster of thunderstorms moved across the area yesterday evening, bringing with it flooding rains and frequent lightning. Both caused many problems in several areas across the region.

Frisco FD one was one several departments who responded to at least one structure fire yesterday evening. Firefighters arrived on the scene in the 10000 block of Robincreek Drive just after 11:00pm last night and found heavy smoke and fire showing from the house.

Fire attack was initiated and brought under control approximately 30 minutes later.

There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians in this fire.

18 wheeler overturns in east Arlington crash

Multiple Arlington fire and police units are working to clear up a major accident involving an overturned 18 wheeler in east Arlington.

The crash occurred on northbound Watson Road (360 service road) at Abram Street. All lanes of Abram Street are closed due to the cab hanging over the guardrail. Cab removal is in progress.

Fire crews are working to contain a small diesel spill from the saddle tanks. There has been no product release from the trailer.

Luckily, Arlington PD reports there were no serious injuries involved in the crash. But traffic is congested in the area, so it is best to avoid.

Flash Flood WATCH issued for North Texas in preparation for heavy rain

The US National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood WATCH for a large portion of north Texas, including the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, through Wednesday evening in preparation for heavy rains.

Rain will move in this evening and should stay around through the day Wednesday and into Wednesday evening. Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible with isolated areas receiving 5-6 inches between now and Wednesday evening.

Flash flooding may occur in urban and poor drainage areas. Heavy rainfall may also cause flooding of creeks, streams, and rivers. Use caution if you are traveling in the weather.

Bell, Bosque, Collin, Comanche, Coryell, Dallas, Denton, Eastland, Ellis, Erath, Hamilton, Hill, Hood, Johnson, Lampasas, McLennan, Mills, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Stephens, Tarrant, and Wise are all included in the Flash Flood WATCH.

UPDATE: All four family members found dead inside Fort Worth home had gunshot wounds

The Fort Worth Police Department has released a little more information with regards to the incident yesterday at a house in the 2000 block of Speckle Drive.

Officers responded to the residence yesterday and located four (4) bodies inside the house.

Additional information confirms all four were family members: two adults (one male and one female) and two children (one male and one female).

All four persons had apparent gunshot wounds. Homicide detectives are investigating, but are not looking for any outstanding suspects. The ages and names will be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

UPDATE: Man killed in Watauga officer-involved shooting incident

At 10:27am this morning, Watauga police officers were dispatched to a welfare check in the 6500 block of Woodale Drive.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with someone who stated there was a man sleeping in her mother’s house that was not supposed to be there due to an active protective order against him.

When officers entered the residence, the man pointed a shotgun and them. Officers fired their weapons and exited the residence to a safe position.

The man was later found deceased. When officers searched the residence, they located a deceased female. The death of the female is a suspected homicide.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the scene. Both officers involved are uninjured.
