Head-on collision in Wise County kills one driver and seriously injures another
Multiple agencies responded to a serious car accident around 3:54pm Saturday afternoon on FM 51 near County Road 2224 about a mile northeast of Decatur in Wise County.
A preliminary investigation by DPS troopers indicates a pickup truck was traveling southbound on FM 51 when it had a tire blowout. The truck veered into the oncoming lanes of traffic and struck a northbound vehicle.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, identified as a 69-year-old man from Decatur, died at the scene. The driver of the southbound pickup was airlifted to JPS Hospital with serious injuries.
Wreckage from the head-on collision was struck by a third vehicle, but no one was injured in that car.
