Flash Flood WATCH issued for North Texas until Thursday morning

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Flash Flood WATCH for a large portion of north Texas, including the DFW Metroplex, until 7:00am Thursday morning.

Thunderstorms and heavy rain are likely across our area tomorrow between the hours of noon and midnight. Storms could be strong with all modes of severe weather possible. The immediate DFW Metroplex has an enhanced risk of severe weather, or a level 3 out of 5.

The heavy rain may cause problems for area lakes that are already pretty full from past weather events. Flooding has closed portions of area lakes. The Trinity River through Dallas County is currently under a Flood WARNING as latest readings indicate the river is over flood stage.

A Flash Flood WATCH means that conditions are favorable for heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding. You should monitor the latest forecasts from the NWS and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued for your area.
