Driver shoots another driver after road rage incident, FWPD says
The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon in Northwest division.
On Thursday, April 30, 2026, at approximately 2:35 p.m., Northwest division officers were called to the 4600 block of N. Freeway (I35W) service road near Meacham in reference to a shooting.
Preliminary information indicates that two individual drivers, both adult males, had a possible road rage incident while traveling northbound on Interstate 35W. Both drivers then exited the freeway at the Meacham Boulevard exit.
At the traffic light, some type of incident occurred and one of the drivers shot the other one. The shooter called police and stated that he had shot someone.
Officers arrived on scene along with the Fort Worth Fire Department to provide medical aid. The driver that was shot was transported to a local hospital where he died.
Per normal protocol, homicide detectives were notified and made the scene.
The shooter is detained and currently speaking with homicide detectives.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the manner, cause of death, and identity of the deceased.
