UPDATE: Fire at old Dallas hotel renders the building a total loss

It was another very busy night for Dallas firefighters. Units arrived on scene around 1:30am and found heavy fire showing on the 3rd floor with heavy smoke showing throughout the multi-story structure, formerly the Ambassador Hotel.

A 2nd and 3rd alarms were quickly called to the scene, bringing in several more fire apparatus and dozens of firefighters.

Defensive operations were called early on, meaning the structure was too involved to fight fire from the interior of the building.

The fire escalated to 4 alarms. Luckily, Dallas Fire-Rescue reports there were no injuries.

Fire officials have deemed the building a total loss. Demolition will begin today.
