Shooting suspect fires at Dallas officers; officers return fire, killing him

The Dallas Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting in the 3400 block of Great Trinity Forest Way in the south central area of Dallas.

Dallas PD officials say officers responded to a shooting call this afternoon around 2:46pm at the listed location. When they arrived, the located a gunshot wound victim. The victim was transported to the hospital, condition unknown.

At around 3:05pm, officers received information that the suspect involved in the shooting was hiding behind a dumpster near the intersection of Cranfill Drive and Great Trinity Forest Way. When they arrived to confront the suspect, he emerged from behind the dumpster and fired his weapon at officers. The officers returned fire, striking the suspects. He was transported to a hospital and pronounced deceased.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
