UPDATE: Armed 18-year-old killed by Fort Worth police was person of interest in homicide

The Fort Worth Police Department has released additional details surrounding the officer-involved shooting last night (Wednesday) in the 5900 block of Oakland Hills Blvd.
Police say officers were in the area to confront a person of interest in the shooting death of a 24-year-old male earlier this month. That particular homicide occurred in the 3100 block of Las Vegas Trail on 08/05/19 at around 9:45PM. More here.
Homicide detectives identified Amari Malone, 18-year-old black male, as a person of interest in the August 5th homicide. Detectives say he was observed at the scene with a gun.
Police tracked down Malone and received information he may have been in the Woodhaven area. When officers arrived in the area, they located him at the intersection of Oakland Hills Blvd and Boca Raton Blvd yesterday evening.
As police attempted to confront him, he fled on foot from officers and presented a handgun. During the foot chase, he pointed the weapon directly at officers, as displayed on body cam video, leading officers to fire their weapons.
The suspect was shot one time. Officers began quick emergency aid until MedStar arrived. The suspect was transported to Harris Methodist, but did not survive.
