UPDATE: Man armed with “large knives” shot by Plano police

The Plano Police Department issued a press release this afternoon following an officer-involved shooting that occurred yesterday (Monday) morning in the 800 block of E. Parker Road.

Police responded to reports of a stabbing incident at the given location. Upon arrival, an officer observed a man wielding large knives in each hand. The man had reportedly been chasing down another person.

The officer gave multiple commands for the man to drop the weapons, but he refused. The man continued to behave aggressively towards the other individual and made advances with the weapons. After failing to comply with commands, the officer fired multiple shots, striking the armed suspect.

Once shot, the suspect attempted to use the knives on himself, but additional officers were able to stop him from doing so.

The suspect, who has now been identified as a 25-year-old male, was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital, but later released.

The investigation is still in progress.
