UPDATE: Five people transported to hospitals after four-vehicle crash in Ellis County
The Texas Department of Public Safety has released additional information on the major accident that occurred yesterday afternoon along FM 66 southwest of Waxahachie in Ellis County.
Firefighters from Ellis County, Ellis County EMS, and multiple law enforcement all responded to the scene just after 1PM on FM 66 near Tumbleweed Drive. This was just down the road from the Scarborough Renaissance Festival site.
According to DPS, a southbound vehicle veered into oncoming traffic, sideswiping one vehicle and colliding with two others that were all northbound on FM 66.
The driver of the southbound vehicle, identified as a 70-year-old female from Waxahachie, was transported by ambulance to Methodist Dallas with serious injuries.
The driver sideswiped by the southbound vehicle was not injured. The two other drivers involved were both transported to area hospitals. One of the drivers sustained serious injuries.
In addition, there was a 1-year-old male passenger in one vehicle and a 12-year-old juvenile passenger in another vehicle that were transported to area hospitals.
Lanes of FM 66 were closed while emergency responders cleared up the scene.
