One killed, multiple seriously injured after head-on crash outside of Decatur

DPS troopers have released additional details regarding the major accident this morning on FM 730 near Decatur.

Multiple emergency responders were called to the scene of a major accident on FM 730 near County Road 4181 just south of Decatur in Wise County.

According to DPS, an SUV was traveling southbound on FM 730 when the driver lost control on the wet road. The SUV spun out and was impacted on the passenger side by an oncoming pickup truck.

The driver of the SUV, identified as a 20-year-old man, was ejected from the vehicle and transported to the hospital with serious injuries. A passenger in the SUV, identified as a 47-year-old female, was killed in the crash. A 14-year-old passenger was also transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver and passenger of the pickup truck were both transported to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth with critical injuries. Two children inside the pickup were also transported to area hospitals, conditions unknown.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but DPS says speed on a wet road is likely to be a contributing factor.
