UPDATE: Two dead in Arlington wrong-way crash

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a major accident involving four vehicles along northbound Matlock Road just south of Interstate 20.

Police say emergency responders were called to the scene around 7:20PM. Four vehicles were involved in a serious collision. The crash was reportedly caused by a wrong-way driver. Three sedans and one SUV were involved in the crash; three of the vehicles sustained significant damage.

The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second person inside another vehicle was pronounced deceased at the hospital. A third person was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Two others were treated and released at the scene.

The Arlington Fire Department responded with multiple firefighters from Battalion 2, Truck 9, Engine 9, Rescue 9, Quint 6, Engine 6, and Engine 12. Multiple Arlington EMS paramedics were also called to the scene.

All northbound lanes are closed while police investigate the scene. The department’s Crime Scene van is on location to assist with the investigation.
