Stormy night ahead for North Texas

A preliminary round of thunderstorms is currently sweeping across the DFW Metroplex from northeast to southwest. Severe weather is not expected with the first round.

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms is currently moving east and should impact our area between the hours of 11PM – 2AM. Severe weather is a possibility with this round, including large hail and damaging winds.

The line of storms out west is expected to gradually weaken and take a more southern turn, according to the National Weather Service.

A Severe Thunderstorm WATCH has been issued for a large portion of North Texas, including the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex, until 4:00AM. Conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms.

Regardless, it will still be a loud and bumpy evening for us, whether the storms are significant or routine. Stay tuned to DFW Scanner for the latest information.
