Store clerk found shot dead inside Arlington convenience store

The Arlington Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a store clerk at a southeast Arlington convenience store.

Just before 5:00am this morning, a customer walked into the E-Z Mart, located at the intersection of East Bardin Road and Matlock Road, and found the store clerk lying unresponsive near the counter. The customer called 9-1-1.

When emergency personnel arrived, they pronounced the store clerk deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. He has been identified as a male in his 30’s.

Officials say they did not receive any calls or panic alarms from the store before the customer found the clerk. Detectives are investigating this as a possible robbery during the early morning hours. Investigators are working on obtaining a search warrant for the store location in order to retrieve surveillance footage.
