Two people killed after red light runner hits their vehicle in northwest Dallas

At around 5:00am this morning, emergency responders from the Dallas Police Department and Dallas Fire Rescue responded to the scene of a two vehicle crash along the eastbound LBJ Freeway service road at Webb Chapel Road.

Officials say a man and woman were inside of a vehicle that was traveling northbound on Webb Chapel Road. The vehicle had a green light and proceeded through the intersection of the LBJ Freeway service road when a man driving a pickup truck eastbound on the service road ran a red light and broadsided their vehicle.

The man and woman inside the northbound vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene. They have been identified by police as a 49-year-old man and 77-year-old woman.

After the collision, the driver of the pickup truck ran away from the scene. Police are actively looking for him. He is facing charges for running away from the scene and failing to provide aid. A passenger in the pickup truck was detained by police and transported to a local hospital with injuries.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
