Woman killed in crash on PGBT in Carrollton

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatality accident that occurred Tuesday afternoon on the President George Bush Turnpike in Carrollton.

At around 4:26pm, DPS Troopers and Carrollton Fire Rescue responded to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on the westbound lanes of the PGBT just before I35E.

Investigators say a passenger vehicle had slowed to a stop in the far right lane due to traffic. The driver of another passenger vehicle failed to control their speed and rear-ended the stopped vehicle. This impact caused the second passenger vehicle to veer across all lanes and collide with a commercial truck.

The driver of the second passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials have identified her as a 23-year-old woman from Duncanville.

The other two drivers involved, a 38-year-old woman and 33-year-old male, were not seriously injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
